If I could just get a personal trainer to chase after me in a 5k, I think I could run it.
School ended last week for most of our counties, and man, is it showing at the gym. Just about everyone has vanished from our classes... the two I made this week (it's been an off week exercise wise) have been cut drastically. The first had only three (to our usual 8-10) and today, I was completely by myself. No one was there Monday, and yesterday, only one other person showed up, and the trainer just skipped the class.
It's like with no school, people's resolve fades. I know it's hard for me, since I use my daughter's school dropoff as a motivator, but I'm determined not to slack off this summer. The trainer/instructor said it's always like this in the summer .
So today, I had him to myself. No slacking off when he wasn't looking like I usually do (I always work hard, but I'll admit, there are times I'll stop doing a crunch 1 rep sooner. ;)). IT was all me.
So we did intervals on the treadmill. Thank GOODNESS I wore my running shoes. He really tried to kill me! Seriously, my heart rate got up to 95%. but I'm so amazed at what I did. I ran/walked 2.3 miles, in 32 minutes... and probably only about 7-10 minutes of that was walking. We started at a 5 MPH run (after a walking run up) and then went up every minute by .5 mph to 7 mph. Then back down again.
Walk recovery for a few minutes, then we did it again for 45 second intervals. Then 30.
There was even some incline intervals. THe last one was at 10% incline and 5.5 MPH. I thought my head was going to explode! fortunately, he slowed down after about 45 seconds of that.
I scorched 340 calories in that run. But more importantly, while my shins ached a bit, it was much less painful than the last time I ran, ad it felt GOOD. I am really proud.
2.3 miles. That's downright respectable. I might make a runner yet.
