Deviating From the Path

Thursday, May 31, 2012

I was doing some writing on this week and this is a lesson I thought would benefit us in our weight loss process as well. Enjoy!

Deviating From the Path

It amazes me how the Lord will use simple situations in the natural to speak to our heart. I was riding from Sumter to Florence on yesterday. This is not something I do often, so I made sure I paid attention to each sign. I got to Timmonsville and panicked. Instead of seeing a sign that said Florence, I saw the sign for the interstate, so I turned around and went back in search of the interstate sign so I could continue on my journey. Once I turned back I never saw the interstate sign again, but the sign that read Florence straight ahead. I laughed out loud and immediately recognized what happened.
It was then that the Lord brought it to my attention; we do the same thing in our spiritual lives. We seek Him for direction and guidance and once we begin to approach a situation that seems difficult or uncomfortable we deviate from the path in search of another route. We ask again, Lord what is the next step; forgetting that the teacher is always silent during the test. All the while, what He originally spoke did not change. His intention is for us to continue in the path that He already laid out for us; continue in His last instructions. The path may change and grow challenging, but the Lordís purpose is to use what we encounter along the way to strengthen and develop us.
If you are unsure about your path, go ahead and seek direction in prayer. If you donít hear anything right away, continue in the last instructions that He spoke to you. When it is time to change, He will be sure to let you know. If you did deviate, He will be sure to get you on track. Remember we walk by faith, not by sight. If He revealed to us everything in the beginning, we may not continue along the path because of what we saw ahead.
Father, forgive us for not trusting you totally with the path that you have chosen for our lives. Help us to understand that you will never lead us astray; you always guide us with your eyes upon us.

Psalm 32:8 (GW) 8 The LORD says, ďI will instruct you. I will teach you the way that you should go. I will advise you as my eyes watch over you.

Stay focused on the path and the plan for success! emoticon

Great blog! We sure can get things twisted up sometimes, well, perhaps "often times". Thank God for His loving way of keeping us.
