I meant that to be said like "Here comes Johnny!"...some of you understand what I'm saying...
So remember Yoda, my heart rate monitor? Well a few weeks back I managed to misplace the transmitter that collects heart rate data and wirelessly sends it to the 'watch' that interprets the data and decides what it all means and then allows it to be uploaded to my computer. All very high tech. But without the transmitter just a very expensive watch.
I really struggled with what to do. My DD swore as I remembered that I had taken the watch, chest strap and transmitter off before getting in the shower in the master bath and leaving the whole thing sitting next to a sink there. And DH recalls moving all of it as he likes to 'clean up' closer to where he thought I'd next be using it. However, I never saw the transmitter again. It is about 2" by 1" and snaps onto the strap. So no trophies for me for the last few weeks even though I've been continuing to work out in my usual diligent (half fanatic) style.
This afternoon I was just dying over not having this resolved. I might never see that transmitter again - DH suspects one of our 2 pesky kitties probably batted it away somewhere as especially the younger one loves to play with things this size in particular. And the house is quite large so there is no telling how many years could go by before it might resurface.
But I found out that the Polar site, Heart Rate Monitors USA and Amazon only sell the strap with a transmitter - and they charge almost $50 for the combo. Rip off!! So I started to think of other options...and I found that Heart Rate Monitors USA had an FT4 (cute but a lot cheaper than my model - FT60 - but with a compatible transmitter....) on super sale for $60ish and then I found an online 8% discount bringing it to around $55 with no shipping or tax...so I rationalized that for only $5 I was buying both a new transmitter and a new strap and a new watch! That started to sound like a deal...the new watch is bronze vs the one I have which is pink - so I will have more fashion options with the 2. Sometimes pink just doesn't work with what I'm wearing, ya know?
So I guess the FT4 will be Yoda Junior...and I solved the transmitter problem. Now if it shows up I'll still have a back up plan. And, truth is, since I work out so much it couldn't hurt to have an extra chest strap either as I let it air dry and sometimes there isn't enough time between my workouts for it to dry completely.
Overall I hope to be happy with the purchase...versus being bitter over the original disappearance of my first transmitter.
Murphy would say it will surface just about the time the new monitor arrives. Anyone want to place a bet??
