A Very Happy 25th!

Thursday, May 31, 2012

I've had three birthdays while a member on this site, and this one was complete bliss beginning to end.

I treated myself to a day completely off work. No cleaning, no job, just being lazy and lounging on the bed with Prince (my orange cat). I did decide to be a responsible adult and show up for work tomorrow.

I did some store returns and exchanges. You might think this violates the no work premise, but to me shopping (or un-shopping) is not work. And I credited VISA quite a bit ending the day a few hundred richer than yesterday.

I treated myself to an hour in the hot tub followed with an hour of the ballet DVD which has already worked wonders the very first week. A full review soon to come!

For dinner Mom treated me to all my favorite foods. Pork chop with sauerkraut, a dark green salad with lite Ranch and lite Italian mixed together as the dressing [pretty tasty!], Hawaiian rolls with raspberry jelly, and her homemade dirt pudding for dessert. Definitely an off-the-diet day but I can say no regrets and the dessert was divine.

As for gifts my parents got me a shoe organizer so now all my shoes are neatly stored in the floor of my closet, a black leather trunk/bench that goes at the foot of my bed for my yarn projects, and a new cell phone. My last one dated from 2006. My preschoolers break out in giggles if they see it. They ask, "Does it do pictures? Does it text?" I answer, "No pictures. As for texts, it tries."

After dinner we watched a family movie - Unknown staring Liam Neeson. Not the best movie but better than many. And I ended my day with a bang. New sheet music - Lacrimosa by Mozart arranged for piano: www.youtube.com/watch?v=

Maybe I'll upload a video of me playing it once I smooth out the kinks. After getting my hands on this gem I'm going to hunt down and learn the rest of the Requiem Mass arranged for piano - all 60 minutes of playing time, choir and orchestral arrangements be darned. One day I'll find myself in the sanctuary of an empty church with a full-length grand piano and congratulate myself for playing one of the greatest pieces of music ever written.

A very happy birthday indeed!
