Run/Jog 5K the beat goes on......

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

Well I almost didn't go out today. My legs were stiff, the weather was iffy. That was rain I felt when I stepped outside. It was really humid. I could really talk myself out of walking/jogging today. My legs hurt. I did not want to injure myself. I had a lot of perfectly good reasons why I should not go out and walk/jog. But I went out anyhow. I again traveled clockwise so that the first run was downhill. First run went OK. Now I walked. Second run went OK. Third run included an uphill portion. Not so good. I was getting twinges in my right knee. OK I would only run down hill. Forget the 3 min/2min stuff. I would walk on anything that wasn't down hill. I would run downhill. It took me 46 minutes and 12 seconds but I completed the 5K. I also discovered that the uphill portion of the route was far longer than the downhill portion of the route. I did not count this as Week 3 day 2. I will try again on Friday and see if I can complete Week 3 day 2. The one thing I am sure of is I AM NOT QUITTING! emoticon

You did great. I am so glad that you didn't head back in the house, it is so much easier to do. I think that most people share those feelings too. I think you made great choices with your walk/run and in doing so will only make you stronger when it comes to the race. Your amazing!

Great job in making choices- in starting the 5 K- great decision,.. then in adjusting your routene so you were not killing yourself- you are doing a great job- and those goals are only on paper- you are a great judge of how you are feeling for that day. Keep on going and let your body guide your training. I love your determination. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Make sure you're careful running downhill. Downhill is actually harder on the knees than uphill. I speak from experience, having had to undergo knee surgery a number of years ago. My DR warned me of this.

I know you won't quit. You're no quitter!! emoticon

Congratulations - you get the determined Perseverance Award for today.
I am seriously thinking of making a personal commitment to set a 5k on my Goals List. Crazy that I'm dragging my butt on this decision - rather ridiculous actually - it won't be long.

Way to not let yourself off the hook! Awesome determination, you have! You truly live by your words.....Carpe Diem! Seize the Day! I Love It! I find it can be too easy sometimes, to come up with excuses for not getting workouts in.....I was starting to slip a bit last month, but now I am getting my Spark back! emoticon

You're doing great - when is the 5K that you and your daughter are doing? Hopefully it won't be too hot and humid.

Sounds like you have some pretty high standards, but we both know you are SHE-RA when it comes to exercise!
