So my husband's been feeling sick since yesterday. He says his body was achy, he was a bit nauseous, was a bit feverish, and had some diarrhea (sorry, TMI). So he stayed home from work today to get to the doctor's office. He has to get some xrays and an ultrasound done, but the doctor almost immediately questioned him about his cholesterol. She said his cholesterol is way over ultra high especially for his age. She explained to us the risks that come with high cholesterol and recommended things we could change in our diet to help my husband lower his cholesterol. She also prescribed medication which he is reluctant to take, but will have to anyways.
So now that he's heard what he has from the doctor (and what's yet to come because he still have to do more labs) now he's thinking twice about his diet. He's known he has cholesterol for years, but he hasnt really done anything about it. I know I could be a whole of a lot better with my diet as well, but the times I try to incorporate veggies into our meals he'll just eat around them. I hope everything the doctor told him really sets in and he's ready to make a change, because as soon as we get home the kitchen is getting yet another major overhaul.
I am determined to turn this around for him. I dont know why but its kinda hit me more knowing my husband is sick than knowing that I'm sick. I dont want to loose him to a heart attack simply because we cant say no to french fries or a slice of pizza. I wont loose him to food. I wont loose myself to food. We are too young to be this sick. This year will be life changing for us.
