I thought I'd share an inspirational story that didn't come from Spark. I met my friend Lily in college. She has had a really remarkable weight loss journey. She had a wake up call last year when her grandmother past away. Between being overweight, grieving for her grandmother, and dealing with job stress and being laid off, she was in a really terrible state health-wise. It was really scary to hear that someone my age (32) was on blood pressure medication.
For her, she needed a good ol' kick in the pants and Pritikin Longevity Center was what she needed to jumpstart learning how to be healthy. I don't necessarily condone going to a weight loss center and paying gobs of money but I can see how this may be the only thing that works for some people.
Lily truly has learned how to live healthy lifestyle that includes good nutrition and exercise. I remember going over to her house for dinner parties and we'd have Domino's pizza. I always ate ahead of time because I can't eat that stuff (fast food SEVERELY disagrees with me). Now, her favorite breakfast is oatmeal and fruit. I joke with her over this since it's my favorite breakfast too.
Yes, Lily has been overweight her whole life but that never ever detracted from her beauty. She is so naturally photogenic and beautiful. I'm glad that she now sees the beauty in herself that I always saw. And I'm so happy that she's taking care of herself.
