So, I think it's time for a blog post. Where to start...
I've disliked my job for sometime now. I won't get into too many details, just in case, but it's just not the place for me. Despite that though, I'm finding some peace and relief in the time I've been spending figuring out what I do want my future to look like eventually. I've recently decided not to go to grad school (at least at this point) because it's just not fitting into my future plans anymore. And that is okay! :) It's been really exciting talking to Matt and my friends and family about the possibilities and just thinking about and planning it all. It's still stressful everyday, and I'm still in a job that I don't love...but I know there's a light at the end of the tunnel now. And that makes a world of difference. (Also, for those that read my last post, I've nearly decided that if I get offered the job I interviewed for, I probably won't take it. Lots of thoughts on that one too... But I'm close to feeling like it's for the best.)
Summer makes me want to move and be outside. So I've started the Couch to 5K again. A friend of mine that lives in Michigan has started the program with me, so we're keeping each other accountable and encouraging each other along the way. My goal this time is to actually finish the program. It's a 9-week program, and I made it to week 8!! C'mon. Haha, so that's the goal this time. And I think if I'm smart about it, I can do it for sure! I've been trying to be intentional about finding shade this time (since I love running outside and I think treadmills are a cheat for me), and soon I hope to start running in the mornings before work so it's cooler. It just hasn't been bright enough for me yet! Also, most times when I'm finished with my run, I have been doing some circuit/weight training in my apartment. I started with a plan I found on Women's Health Magazine's website, and since then I've adapted it to include other things. It's been great!
If I'm going to talk about what my nutrition has looked like in the past couple of weeks, we can sum it up in two words: EATING OUT. And I've felt the effects. My runs have been so tough, my muscles so tight, strange stomachaches, lots of headaches. I know it's from stress (the life stuff) and from eating junk. Thankfully, Matt and I signed up for a CSA this summer and we got our first distribution last week! It's great! Tomorrow is my next pick-up! If you don't know what a CSA is, you should check it out and look for one in your area! It's a farm-share, so you pay in advance for fresh, local, organic produce from a farm, and for the whole season you get a distribution of various produce items every week! It's going to cut down on our grocery bill so much! Plus, Matt and I have already decided that we're going vegetarian (at home) for the season. So we've nearly eaten up all of the meat we had left in the freezer, and we're planning on only eating meat if we're at friends' or families' homes. Also, we're going to drastically cut down on our eating out!
So that's the sum up of where my life is at lately. My summer work hours are from 7:30-4, with a half-hour lunch. I don't like the shorter lunch time, but I looooove going home at 4! So it works itself out. That's just more sunlight for me to enjoy my day and take photos of my food. (P.S. I'm thinking about starting a food blog... :))
