Hiding Secrets

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

I was watching one of the news shows this morning and one of the guests was talking about a terrible secret she had lived with for all of her life that she was afraid to share. She says there is a moment that you dread when someone asks a pointed question about your secret. That really struck me as fear is one of my ongoing studies. Because some people had known her and accepted her for who she was, not knowing her secret, they continued to do so when the secret was revealed. Others judged and rejected her for what she had hidden. Then there were those in the middle that she called the moveable middle. Those are the attidues that could be shaped and dealt with. I found the whole discussion very interesting. Sadly, it is most often the Christians who judge and reject. That really isn't a surprise to many of us, even the Christians. This to me is so sad. Do you know what I see? A society not unlike what Jesus lived and walked amongst. Those who judge and condemn are the Pharisees and Saducees. Jesus rocked their world. They pushed for His crucifixion. My sister once said to me that true Christians weren't offensive. Christians, true Christians offend a lot of people, but it is not because of their lack of love. True Christians sit and eat with those that the church judges and rejects. I don't know why this interview hit me so hard. I do wish that those who live with the outward appearance of love would live with the truth of love in their hearts even when they don't understand.
