When I joined SP on January 1st of this year, I felt heavy, sluggish, and generally yucky. I wanted to make a change. Thanks to my sister, another Sparker, I joined SP. I started a new eating plan, bought and used a Fitbit, and started doing instead of thinking about doing. I chose my user name, FABBYMAY, because I wanted to look and feel fabulous by May (specifically my birthday, which is today) - it is also a play on my real name.
So, now that May and my birthday have arrived, how do I feel? Well, I DO feel fabulous! I have lost 17 pounds. I can fit into clothes I haven't been able to wear in years. I take stairs whenever I can (caveat - in the city in which I live there are no buildings over 7 stories high). If there is a choice between a long way and a short cut I always walk the longer route. I love eating lots of veggies.
I no longer feel sluggish and tired all the time. I can bend over to tie my shoes without a big roll being in the way. I don't get out of breath going up lots of stairs or hiking hills. I can hold side planks for more than a few short seconds.
What next? Well, I will continue what I started in January. I still have some weight to lose (that belly roll is smaller, but needs work). Now that summer is here I am amping up my outdoor activities. I am still trying to transition from walking to jogging. I am anxiously awaiting my CSA to start so I can feast even more on fresh picked organic veggies. I will stay here on SP, where I get so much support from my fellow Sparkers.
I will also heed the birthday message I got today from the SP Team: "During the next year, reshuffle your priorities. Spend more time with family and friends, take care of your body and health by eating well and exercising regularly, and offer to help others in need. Discover what matters most to you, and make your daily life into a true reflection of those ideas, beliefs, and attitudes." - a most excellent message indeed!
