Well, vacation is over and it is back to work. Kind of lost track of the days, so I'll start again with my four goals --
Checking in on my four short-term goals:
1. Get my diabetes in check. See my doctor for a check-up and lab work to get a more current A1C and to take ALL of my insulin shots every day and test my blood sugars 2 times each day.
Dr. visit was completed last week. Am not starting in a good spot. BP was elevated, A1C was over 10. Kindeys are a bit stressed. At least now I know where I'm starting from. Added another short term goal with my Dr. -- I'm to test blood sugars 3-4 times each day and report back to her on Friday. Set a follow up appt for next month.
2. Follow my meal plans 6 out of the 7 days. If I mess up one day, it is ok, but I can't mess up 2+ days as I have in the past.
I had my one "off" day last Friday, but picked myself up, dusted off my meal plans and am back in gear for this week. I've created my meal plans for this week. My one iffy day may be tomorrow. My new kitchen floor is being installed so I don't know what kind of shape my kitchen will be in for dinner. Have back-up plan of Subway or Panera's if I need to eat out.
3. SLEEP -- ok, anyone who knows me knows how hard this one is for me, especially since I'm going to be on vacation next week. The goal is to be in bed by midnight which on a typical week day will give me 6 1/2 hours of sleep each night instead of the 4-5 I'm getting now.
Getting up early this morning was painful after a week of sleeping in. I definately need to keep up with this one since I've gotten use to 7+ hours of sleep.
4. To increase my water intake. I have a 20oz water bottle and I need to drink one of those at work each day instead of drinking diet soda
I have my water bottle on my desk and am halfway through it already. Was thinking I might get 2 in today, but I may regret that when I'm having to train this afternoon.
Am going to keep working hard to stay on track this week. I meet with my wellness coach on Thursday to follow up and set goals for the next two weeks.
