Focusing on the Positive or Fighting the Seether

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

After a weekend of making really bad decisions and letting my id (a.k.a. the seether - yes, after the song) have too much control, I'm focusing on the things I did right and the new habits I've formed since embarking on this journey a year and a half ago...

1) I still ate fruits & veggies despite being off plan!

2) I had several meals that were strictly by the guidelines so that the ones that weren't didn't have as much of an impact.

3) When we took my DD for ice cream I ordered a small rather than the large I would have ordered in the past (and after seeing the small realized I'd have been happy with a mini).

4) Bought a Big Grab bag of chips (the ones that have 3 servings) and shared it between 3 people! Although I'm sure DD had less than a full serving & I had more, it's still a lot less than the whole bag!

Do I have things I still need to work on? Obviously. But it's identifying the fact that new habits are taking hold that helps motivate me to idenify the things that need work and change them, knowing that eventually they'll be a new habit too!

How boring life would be if we followed every rule, ate only the exact amount of chips that make up one serving, and didn't have ice cream now and then. You are so spot on in acknowledging that the new habits are taking hold and making you stop and think about what you need to improve on. This is how we grow. You are doing so well!

Great Job at allowing yourself to feel good about the things you did RIGHT, instead of wallowing in self-pity or berating yourself over the things you did WRONG! We can't get it right 100% of the time, but as long as we try our best to make good decisions you know you're on the right track! Keep it up!

Rather than playing the "blame game" and look at fault you have instead asked yourself " How can I succeed?" Well done. Keep Sparking!!!! emoticon

Good for you!! Being able to focus on the positives instead of dwelling on not following your plan to a tee. I say again, GOOD FOR YOU!!!!

I ate half the portions I normally would have even though I was eating things that I should have bypassed all together... Alfredo is my favorite!

Also I made sure to have some form of outdoor physical activity each day...
kayaking, golfing, walking...etc.

Alcohol intake was cut down extremely since past instances... emoticon
