Revenge revisted

Monday, May 28, 2012

I've got to say that now looking back on this whole event, I'm disappointed in the way I reacted! Can you tell that I'm spoiled and used to getting things my way? lol

The situation was resolved with us getting most of our money back. It was finally Rich's wife who offered the money, mostly to get rid of Luv! She was laying the quilt trip on him pretty heavily. In all fairness to Rich, I've asked around and it seems like the man is really pretty well liked. It does seem like the problem was with his grandson, not really with him. The classic between a rock and a hard place type of situation.

Now going back to being spoiled. Once again things really seemed to have worked out for the better. We've already bought another tandem. This time a Trek T900 from a legitimate bike shop. So it has a full warrenty. It's much lighter than the Raliegh and seems considerably better built. So we'll probably be happier with this one anyway.

Revenge? You people know me better than that. Even a little sorry I used the term. I'm still a firm believer that when you treat others with respect and kindness, it's what you usually get in return.

Once again, Life is good!

It sounds like the grandson is ruining his grandfather's business reputation in his quest to make money off ebay. Glad Rich did the right thing. The grandson could learn a few things about customer service from his grandfather.

As far as "revenge". How about trying the German word Schadenfreude instead ? Rough translation, taking delight in the misery of your enemies. In this case, taking delight that the grandson got overruled by Rich.

Enjoy your new bike !!

Yes, maybe "revenge" was a poor choice of words in the situation, but it's nice that you got resolution on the deal, and that Rich stepped up and did the right thing (even with the help of his wife and Luv!) Enjoy your new, better tandem, quilt or guilt-free!

Don't be too hard on yourself my friend. You have a very clear sense of how to treat others and always practice love and good treatment for yourself. It's ok to be a little indignant over being mistreated. Glad to know that you have come full circle as Snow says.

Love that you wrote "QUILT" trip instead of guilt trip! LOL, that is something I could see Luv doing. You are priceless, and no wonder one of my best online friends. I was surprised to see 'revenge' coming in a blog of yours, but it was a great reminder for all of us. thank you for the human side of you!

This kind of thing happens to me all the time... my gut reaction is to get really mad at a situation, but really, I'm the kind of person who tries to solve problems as peacefully as possible. I think the whole blogging thing can really help us to get out our frustrations before we act on them.
Glad to hear the situation ended the way it did - enjoy the new bike!
