This something that I do. The name came from a meeting in our local park while I was trying to get myself back into jogging 4-5 days a week. I was doing the high school cross-country course route which was half paved road and half off road. I was about 10 minutes into my jog when a female voice called out "Good morning"! I looked over to my left and there was a lady who looked close to my age, 61, walking. She also was definitely over-weight (as I). I sucked in some warm O2 and gasped out "Morni-". Then while I was jogging, she walked right by me, up and over the hill. My motivation to keep on jogging was deciding that she was on some very powerful drugs.
In order to finish my run, I had parked my truck at the top of one of the hills. I wheezed and gasped, but ne'er stopped jogging to get to my truck.
When I was just getting into my truck, I heard a familiar voice call out "Hey"! Looking around there was the 'old' walking lady, looking refreshed.
She couldn't have missed the fact that I was on my way to the hospital to get some much needed O2. I managed a nod and a sweaty wave. Then as she sat in her late model Primus she called out "We're like the turtle and the rabbit"! I thought, it's tortoise and the hare you dumb, old.....!
So that's how my turtle jogging came into being. If you're jogging fast enough to be passed by a 60+ year-old out for a walk, then welcome to the club!!!
