FitBit Week 1

Monday, May 28, 2012

Okay, just finished my first full week and, except for my issues with the battery life, I really like it. I am about to be on my third device as I keep getting batteries that don't hold the charge.

Overall, I really like it. Because it adjusts how many calories I can eat based on my activity levels, if I have a day where I can't push too much due to joints, I know what to cut back my food to so I can stay in range.

The device is helping me burn more calories 'cause I'm suddenly aware of how little I'm burning doing activities.

I like the awards idea - knowing I've walked 50 miles or having an idea how high I've climbed.

And, more importantly, I've changed the upward trend in my weight.

And, yes, I know this could also stop if I stop monitoring, but the reality is, I enjoy the numbers so much...

I am so glad you got it..but honestly I don't charge my battery for like a week or two. If you keep having an issue I would call them and do an exchange!

I've been eyeing the FitBit for a while now. Mom says, "Wait until they make version 2.0 or 5.0. Within two years it will be obsolete." So I'm trying to wait it out. Glad to hear it's working for you so well, and thank you for writing such a detailed review!

Glad you are enjoying the device, Carrie! I think I may always need to have something like that in order to stay on top of things with my weight and activity. I switched from bodybugg to BodyMedia Fit recently because of the better reporting, and I am really happy with it. it gives me much better insight into what my body does and has a lot more features both with the smartphone app and the website that meet my needs for now. I may go to the Fitbit eventually, though, because of the ongoing subscription costs; it's good to hear the comparison!

I'm glad that the FitBit Ultra is working for you. I have had many pedometers and they just stop working (not the batteries as I always keep some extra at home). Like you, I like to know my numbers and this keeps me motivated. I will need to get a Fit Bit when I go to Canada this year. Bye for now. emoticon

Charging on the computer charges the battery. Mine never stays charged. So, at the moment, while I wait for the next one, I re-charge whenever I'm sitting in front of my computer and then put the device back on when I'm moving.

    It is really motivating.

i've had mine a month and absolutely LOVE it - Love how it motivates me to get those last couple flights of steps or one more mile etc. It's helped me get to bed earlier too - that's a good thing.

Not sure what you are referring to W/batteries. I don't think I have a battery. Is it because I charge mine on the computer?

anyway - enjoy and keep it up. it's a great tool
