51 things to be grteful for when you have no money... (#11-25)

Monday, May 28, 2012

You find free ways of having fun.
On a bus or train, you can get things done, you can’t while driving.
You become more humble.
Haggling becomes second nature.
You lose weight as you don’t eat as much.
You smile more.
You tend to sweat the small things less.
You learn to appreciate what, those less fortunate than you, go through.
You become better at spotting bargains.
Being a master budget maker becomes second nature.
You learn to value every last penny.
You become less frivolous.
When you do get money you save or invest it sensibly.
You appreciate your friends and what they do much more.
You become more creative about how to have a good time.

We used to say when we had the time we didn't have the money now I just have the time but public transport has many advantages. Time not being one of them. A 2 to 3 hour return trip in the car takes 5 to 6 on public transport.

I am in a tight couple months, which is SO much preferable to the tight decade I had in my thirties. I find now that I am grateful when all the bills are paid. I am more grateful when the bills are paid AND there is gas in the vehicle, and I save my most gratitude for when bills are paid, vehicle is fueled AND I was able to still grocery shop. I have found that it does get better, but learning gratitude was the first step for me to recognize when it was better.
