Honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice!

Monday, May 28, 2012

“Memorial Day is more than a three-day weekend,” President Barack Obama said in his weekly address. “In town squares and national cemeteries, in public services and moments of quiet reflection, we will honor those who loved their country enough to sacrifice their own lives for it.”

Freedom in America

Freedom in America
Isn't really free;
We often pay a price
To keep our liberty.

Remember those we loved,
Who fought for us, and died;
And those we never knew
For whom others mourned and cried.

At home our "war" for freedom
Is sadly overdue;
We've let corruption stage
A sad and grievous coup.

No longer can we brush off
Dishonesty and greed,
Lust for wealth and power;
We can't, we won't concede.

Complacency is weakness
Patriots can't afford;
We have to act on wrongs
That cannot be ignored.

We must give up some time,
Spent on other pleasures,
To restore America's freedom,
To keep America's treasures.

Money spent on trifles
Must now go to our cause:
Get rid of the offenders,
Constitutional outlaws.

Freedom in America
Isn't really free
It's up to American patriots;
It's up to you and me.

    OMG How long did it take you to type this?

Don't think I would want to be any of those women. I'm happy being me. Aren't you too?

    Definitely..

Aw this special on PBS, got the end of it and it was so emotional hearing one of our War Heroes talk about his experiences while at war and at home with all the mental damage that he goes through and his failed marriages and how he copes.

It brought tears to my eyes.

Too bad I only got about 30 minutes of it but I learned a lot with hearing him and the compassion I had and the appreciationg I was able to experience even though I always supported our troups throughout my life.

30 minutes was emoticon

Thanks for the post.

    As a Buddhist and pacifist it is hard for me to understand the futility of war. Yet at the same time I appreciate the freedom we have in this country.

A conflicted choice for many of us.
