I encountered two new products this week. One was such a disappointment and one was just wonderful.
Bad news first. I really really would love a good sugar free frozen drink. In the hot weather I crave large cold frozen drinks. Last summer I succumbed to milk shakes much too often and gained several lbs. So I was delighted to hear that Slurpee was coming out with new improved sugar free flavors. (previous ones were just nasty, tasted more like artificial sweetener and artificial flavors than anything else). These new ones were supposed to be sweetened with sucralose.
I stopped at the 7-11 on my way to work and got a HUGE Slurpee lite Fanta Mango flavored sugar free Slurpee. I was in heaven. It was so good! I thought my prayers had been answered. Then the stomach grumbles and frequent trips to the bathroom started. Argh! Not good. Really not good.
I checked out the website for ingredients and lo and behold, it contained erythritol, a sugar alcohol. Less likely to cause digestive upset than other sugar alcohols, but I guess it's a relative, your mileage may vary thing. I am so disappointed.
So, dear readers, my advice, enjoy but proceed with caution.
Also this week, a coworker gave me a Kind Plus Peanut Dark Chocolate +Protein Bar. What a delight that was! Gluten free, and delicious. I ate it slowly and enjoyed it so very much! Definitely a good healthy option when I am missing all the gluten filled goodies I cannot have. I give it a big A+++
Meanwhile I have done my daily T-Tapp workout every day and have tracked all my intake. I have exceeded my daily calorie limit several times, by only a little and managed to lose over 2 pounds. A good first week.
On to the next.
