I'm not as smart as I thought I was

Sunday, May 27, 2012

Okay, after a week of travel to the Midwest, where I was "mostly good" in the calories I was eating and the exercise I managed to get in between the early AM flights and late PM meetings, The number on the scale was the same yesterday (Saturday) as it was a week ago.

"Uh oh," I thought, "that number is probably two pounds low as it is, because I'm usually still dehydrated the day after I fly." And then I had my first hard workout in about two weeks yesterday morning, followed by a birthday family with my family last night. Working out my legs makes me retain water, plus, the birthday meal wasn't shy with the salt in the BBQ we had.

So I was expecting a number at least a pound higher on the scale this AM and not at all looking forward to what was waiting for me. But what happened when I weighed myself today? Two pounds down!!!

So much for thinking I'd finally figured out how to predict my weight!! I don't know if this weight is "real" BUT I will use that number to stay happy today all the same.

Have a great weekend - I hope all of You reading this have reasons of your own to be happy today.

[It's on to getting the kitchen ready for re-painting for me, mostly repairing drywall seams that have cracked over the years.]

Hey, at least it was a less smart in your favor!

And our bodies are truly incredibly complex - if it were more predictable we'd have less "risk factors" and more certainty in a lot of areas.
