Pedometer Hassles

Sunday, May 27, 2012

I have emptied the dishwasher and dish drainer, swept the kitchen floor, and made a high protein breakfast of boiled eggs and a blueberry bagel and tea with lemon, and cleaned up my dishes so all is clean and put away in the kitchen. It's 8:43 am and I'm heading out.

I failed to get my pedometer battery changed yesterday. Tired of fooling with pedometer issues, I ordered two Omron HJ-112s on the Walmart website this morning, which is where I bought them before (first one washed; second one battery is dead and I can't find the tiny specialty screwdriver). They are currently the great price of $23, which is usually as cheap as they get unless Walmart is having Christmas discount on everything specials; they usually run 21 - 28 dollars.

In the past you order them, and go in and pick up your item(s). No shipping charge if you "ship to store". Pay in cash, so no risk of using cc online.

However, what really ticked me off is now Walmart requires prepayment so they require you to make two trips; order onliine, then go to the store and pay in cash while your order is delayed, then they will process your order, THEN it is shipped to store.

This confirms my already high opinion of Walmart, NOT!!!!!!!!, and confirms why I NEVER do business with them except for one-offs like this one.

I won't order another one from Walmart in the future, now that I know.

Next time I'll just order from Amazon, who doesn't charge shipping.

I now have extra pedometer batteries, and by having 2 1/2 pedometers and extra batteries I am hoping this will solve all future pedometer hassles for the rest of the year. Hopefully for 12 months.

I haven't been able to track my steps for the entire month of May. But want to start in June. Friday is June 1st.

You can find those little screwdrivers at the eye glass places or in hardware store. I know because that is where I buy mine for my glasses. You can use the flat head even on a screw that is a philips type.

Well, I have given up on pedometers entirely, so you are ahead of me. The crowning blow was when I checked on the accuracy of the last one I had and discovered that when I counted my steps and stopped at 125 to see how many it had recorded and the number on the pedometer was 10. Grrrrr!
