OMG, Grandson had accident

Sunday, May 27, 2012

He was a the skatepark scootering (his favorite thing in the world to do) and he landed flat on his face coming out of a jump..... his top 3 front teeth are badly broken, and his nose and lip swollen and his knee badly scraped... He had his helmet on, thank God...The other kids laughed at him and he had his mom's cellphone, but probably panicked and scootered home instead of calling, , only about 2 blocks! I was at work when my dd called and told me. I was so worried. You know the saying, if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck... that seems to be what's happening with them lately. Last week, he was in a fight and got a black eye ..He didn't fight back because he is in Taekwondo and they take an oath not to. And their dental coverage at the new job starts on June 1., so hopefully the dentist can fix the teeth, I remember how bad I felt when I had to get my bottom front tooth taken out last year and walked around for a couple months with no tooth......talk about redneck!
Pretty stressful!

I was at work and we shopped at a gargage sale that they came out and said, "I;m serious, take whatever you want for free please, the sale is over". I got 2 bags of stuff, one a bag of western books for my brother and the rest I don't know, hardly in the mood to check it out now.

But this is the 2nd Sat. night in a row, actually probably in about 20 years too, that I went dancing. This time, the ladies I support had a banquet supper and dance, so I danced with one of them... Fun...kept my mind of my g.s....

But then when I dropped them off, I just cried all the way home... Poor kid....

well, gotta get to bed and get up for work in a.m. SIL said he may change my snow tires over if he wakes up early in a.m. since I have to go to work for 9:30. emoticon emoticon

I hope your grandson gets his teeth fixed soon. My son was also in Martial Arts. His sinsa would tell them that there is no first strike in Karate. But someone won't back down and starts a fight then defend yourself. His son did that with his younger sister. A boy kept on picking on this girl and the brother told the boy to back down that you don't want to mess with me. The boy didn't back down and knocked the sister to the ground and hit the brother. The brother hit the kid and also him and his sister was expelled from school for fighting. But I think that kids need to learn self defense so that they can protect themselves. I'm glad you was able to go out dancing to get your mind off things.

Take care,
Sharon

Praying for your grandson. Hope they were able to fix his teeth. My best friend's son got three front teeth knocked out with a hocking puck while playing street hockey at school his senior year. She was beside herself. They were fixed and today no one would ever know...almost 25 years later.
Glad you went dancing and had a great time!!!

I hope your grandson feels better soon. There is so much that modern dentistry can do these days. Hopefully he'll be good as new before long.

My son had a front tooth broken too. He ran into an open locker door in the dark, in the locker room at school. Kids..... Got his tooth fixed, and onward we went... Hope your GS has good luck getting his teeth fixed, that he's not in a lot of pain, and kudos to him for not fighting. He'll just have to let it be known, somehow, that he is into martial arts, and didn't want to hurt the other kids. Talk to his coach, and ask him the best way to handle it, if it should happen again... I'm sure GS isn't the first child in that situation.

Glad you had a chance to get out, just for you. Dancing can be fun as well as a good stress reliever.... Go again if you get the opportunity!! emoticon emoticon

I am so sorry to hear about your grandson. That is so bad, hope he heals quickly as it sounds so painful. I think children are so cruel, laughing like they did. I would like to suggest to watch your grandson, I am referring to the black eye, it is nice that he listened to his coach, however, I think if something like that happens again, I would talk to the coach, It could become a bully thing. .
Glad to see you going to the dance, you need to get out and learn how to enjoy life again and as you said it did take your mind off your problems, at least for a while.
Keep us advised on your grandson and lets hope that they can work out the insurance for his dental work.

Kids sometimes go through a struggle that others seem to ignore or contribute to.
Encourage him to continue to be unique and relish in the thought that his future success is "closer than it appears".

I am so sorry this all happened. Stresses of caring for children can take many forms. You love them to death but you could strangle them for the situations they get into that cause that stress. I know so many youngsters love that skateboarding but as an old ER nurse, there are so many injuries from that one activity that used to come in for repair. The kids always cried but the parents and grandparents, the very one's who love them to death, are emotionally torn to shreds. I pray that all of you recover soon and life calms down once again for all of you. Blessings toward that.

Poor little guys. I hope they get his teeth fixed quick for him when the insurance kicks in. I know you feel so bad for him. Good you went out dancing. Good stress reliever and exercise. Sounds like you had a fun night with your friends. Cheer up! Him will probably bounce back faster than you. emoticon
