Our neighbors have a great party every year on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. It's their own private Rib Fest, complete with judges and trophies. We have never won because we prefer a slow-cooked rib with a vinegar-tomato sauce, and this crowd of friends and family compete to out-heat each other. But the food is good, there's plenty of beer and wine and a huge crowd.
How, as a Sparker, should I handle this party? It's the one time a year I eat pork ribs, so I don't feel too bad about a bit of indulgence, but even the sides are everyone's champion creamy picnic side dishes--beans, cole slaw, pasta salads, etc. It's fat city.
I'll make sure I get my exercise in, I'll eat a healthy breakfast and I will go through the line only once. It will still be a day's worth of calories in one sitting. Do I just move on and do better on Monday?
