So, let me just start by saying that my body hates me. The pain was starting early this am when I got up for our bootcamp work out. I didn't mention it yesterday, but my ST work out included an extra set of triceps extensions. No biggy, right? WRONG! At 6:30 this am when I got up, I was starting to feel 'em. I left the house about 7:20. Bootcamp started at 8am. It was an hour of butt kicking team building.
We moved through exercises as a group, so those that were more fit and could do them quickly got "extra" tasks along with being cheerleaders for those of us that, uh, took a little longer. If you haven't done a "burpee" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bu
since junior high, I highly encourage you to try to do one. Then imagine doing "weave poles" followed by 10 burpees, and doing that a total of 4 times. Yeah, butt kicking for sure!
We did a few other full body and cardio combo things, then we did abs. Ugh! We partnered up to do leg lift ab exercises and then sit-ups. You know, old school sit up that we had to do back in the day in elementary school for the "president's physical fitness" program test thing. Yeah, full on sit ups. I managed 15. I could do the leg raises. We were challenged to do 2 sets of 20 of each the leg raises and sit ups. I did the 40 leg raises. Unfortunately we only had time to attempt the one set of sit ups each. Awww. Sad face. We ended the torture with a tunnel. You know, where everyone starts on hands and feet and butts in the air. The first person crawls through everyone and adds to the end, then everyone from the tunnel crawls through too. Yeah, it was muddy, it was tough, there was lots of body contact, but it was actually kind of fun. We did a group circle and stretched and introduced ourselves.
If these were to be held on Saturday mornings I would keep going. Unfortunately they will be Tuesday or Wednesday nights. Neither of those nights works for me because of classes.
By the time I arrived home it was about 9:30. I realized at that point that I had now done 3 hour long work outs (or slightly over) in less than 24 hours. My body will definitely hate me. Hubby and I went to an afternoon showing of the Avengers. By the time we left the theater at almost 4pm my body was sore! It is a pleasant sore, but still sore none the less. We had dinner at Kona Grill and it was awesome! We had some sushi and I had grilled fish. It is amazing how low cal grilled fish is, even when eating out.
My family is getting together for a fish fry tomorrow. Yup, good ole fried fish. I'm excited. I have been so good on calories this week and added some extra work outs. I am not giving myself permission to go overboard, but I am giving myself permission to enjoy a few pieces of fried fish and not beat myself up over it. I made German Potato Salad. I've never made it before. It is NOT a healthy food option. Even in "moderation" this is not a low cal/low fat/low carb/low anything food. The recipe starts with frying 3/4 of a pound of bacon. You don't drain the fat, it gets used in the sauce. It's never been my favorite, but my mom asked if I would make it. We'll see how it turns out and what everyone else thinks of it. I will also be bringing a fruit salad. My cousin is bringing a quinoa & veggie salad. We wont be forced into unhealthy, heart attack in a crockpot.
So, to summarize today, I'm tired (I didn't sleep well last night) and my body is sore, but it has been a good day.
