Allow me to clarify...

...for my new friends...
my retirement job is elder care-
my only client right now is an almost 98 yr old history professor (been with him for 2 1/2 yrs now- his family would have me there every day, if I would, but 3 days a week is enough for me).
I love Dr. M., but he has declined dramatically (mentally, not physically) in the last year and the days sometimes drag on. My job is to keep him out of bed and awake and stimulated as much as possible. Most days he likes to move-it-move-it, but some days he just does not want to- like today- would not go out for a walk, would not do his PT exercises, would not even go out for a ride with me.
Made for a loooooooooooooong, boring 6 hours work day for me.
And, yes, I did my hip/PT stretches and a few things over there and hit the gym on my way home.

I think it's great you are doing this, but I also UNDERSTAND. It's so hard with regards to the mental issue. My grandma is 94.

You are such an inspiration. I tire quickly when I go to stay with my 98 y.o. mother. I need to head back to her one of these days, but must admit that I prefer the positive energy here with my dh and when I get to be with the grandkids. take good care of you! emoticon

Oh boy, I could see how a day like that might stretch on and on. Hope next time he's more willing to have some fun. :)

You are a saint! I am afraid I could not do that.
Have a great Memorial Day.

Poor old dear man sounds like he is just tired and done. JF's granny is like that now. She just turned 97 and her memory is going, going, gone.

98...Wow! How lucky Dr. M is to have you! I guess at 98, there are days when you just don't want to move.

Dr M is so lucky to have you Liz; to take care of such a vital man through his dotage must be so rewarding and you've given him so much in companionship.
You are an amazing, giving person- and I love you for that.
Have a good Sunday emoticon

Dr. M is so lucky to have you. You have given him several years of good quality care. You've probably extended his years.
You're a blessing.
