The good, the bad, and the seriously annoying

Saturday, May 26, 2012

The good? Well, that's obvious! All the new things AND I just picked up my three new cookbooks this morning. I haven't had time to give them more than a cursory glance yet, but I'm looking forward to giving them a good read. The little I've already seen of Ted Allen's cookbooks tells me they're going to get a major workout. If I'm being honest, I may make one of two of the Cake Boss' recipes. I bought the book because I love him.

The bad is that I'm so sore, I can't make the progress I want to getting things done. I almost talked myself out of going to the post office this morning because I'm so achy (seriously glad I went anyway). I realize there isn't a timetable before Friday (when the carpet cleaners come), but I've lived in an ugly, smelly trashpile for so long that I'm impatient to have a beautiful home. I want to be able to open the blinds and the windows.

Now for the seriously annoying. As I turned to leave the post office with my package, a woman approached me and without any lead-in tried to hand me a leaflet and lectured me about how wheat is not a food and it's actually an opiate. (Really? Then why do I have no problem stopping at two pieces of bread for my sandwich?) I had all I could do to get rid of her. The words "no, thank you" should have been enough but weren't. I have a real problem with people like that.

Oh well, now I'm home watching Bobby, waiting for the groceries to get here and doing the little my muscles let me at a time. Tonight I'm christening the cookware. In honor of Bobby's penchant for Southwestern food, the first thing I'm making is -- nachos!

I am SO glad I don't have to work Monday!

What a goofy woman you ran across. At least she wasn't trying to sell you anything. Best to just walk away.

Good luck with your clean up!

Ouch, agreed on the annoying. I understand their belief and fervor, but I don't agree and have no interest in being pushed.

But you did eventually escape her AND have so much good that she can simply be forgotten!

I'm glad you're off on Monday too! You have just the right attitude though, in spite of annoyances, frustrations and pain, you press on until the job is done. That sure is a good word for the rest of us, too!

Enjoy your tacos and do what you are able, but don't feel guilty. You can only do what you are able to accomplish.

You could make a list of what needs to be done to get your apartment cleaned up the way you want it and then work at it for 15 minutes at a time - that's a Flylady idea, but it works!
I detest annoying people like the one you encountered today! I'm glad you got your cookbooks though!

Enjoy your 3 day weekend! I bet you're so excited about making over your home. I have a feeling when it's all done, you'll look around and say "Wow! I did it! I'm WORTH IT!!!" Because you are, you know. You're worth it and you deserve all the good things that are coming to you.
