(If you guessed George Jones, you are right.) So, that does about sum up how I feel today. I had a very good Friday. I slept in late. I went to bed about midnight. That is typical for me. I slept until 9:30. Yup. And I am ok with that. I lazed about for a while, ate my protein bar breakfast and decided to finally get my butt up and go to the gym.
I arrived about the time I am typically leaving, between 10:30 and 11. I totally rocked the elliptical doing 2:15 miles in 33 minutes on level 3. The last three minutes were cool down. Since my heart rate was still in the 130s, I decided to walk a lap to help bring it down a bit more. I love the elliptical, but it only lets you go so slow before it pauses the program. I walked my lap and then went back to work on the machines. I didn't have any place I needed to be, so I was able to take my time. After I did all of the machines I walked another lap as a cool down and then stretched. It was a great work out today and I am excited I did it.
As I was leaving I saw the sign. Really, it was a sign. It made my heart stop and leap a little bit. The center is going to be closed on Monday. Of course, I really did realize this was the case. I belong to the community center gym, it is staffed, so not a 24 hour facility. I knew that it would be closed, but for a moment I panicked. I always go to the gym on Mondays.
What am I going to do? They can't be closed, I need to work out. I need to get in cardio...I need... wait, I have options. This is not the end of the world. This is not a set back or a problem. This is an opportunity to try one of the fitness videos I have streaming on netflix. Or I could use the Wii, or I could use some of the videos that Spark has. I have LOTS of options. This will be ok, this will be better than ok, this will be GREAT!
From there I went to the grocery store and got a bunch of produce. I also decided to try the Rubbermaid "produce saver" containers. They have a little raised platform to keep them from sitting in moisture and also have little air holes to help them breathe better. We will see how they work. I spent the next 4 hours prepping fruits and veggies, making salsa, and also getting the veggies and mahi-mahi ready for dinner tonight.
My friend picked me up at 6 for kickboxing. I am definitely getting better definitely enjoy the class. It's really nice when there is someone or something that makes me angry. Punching and kicking is fun!
Somehow we were talked into going to one of the other leaders "boot camp" work out tomorrow. Yeah, apparently I have a death wish or something. I will be up and at 'em before 7am to make it to boot camp.
When I got home from kickboxing I grilled the mahi steaks and some veggies. I have a "skillet" that goes on the grill that I put asparagus cut into about 1" pieces and mushrooms and onions. I sprayed them with non-stick spray and then seasoned them with our "special mix." I added a little bit of the fresh salsa to the fish as it was finishing up. It was totally delish!
Right now I am working on unwiding a bit and decompressing my brain so I can go to sleep. Boot camp comes awfully early in the morning and I have to be up and ready. When I get back hubby and I are going to grab a light lunch, see Avengers again and then go to an early dinner. I am really excited about a date day!
