Lots to talk about (less about weight loss, more about life)

Thursday, May 24, 2012

So life has been crazy.. I was in the middle of my intensives during student teaching and my father lost his fight against lung cancer. That was almost 2 months ago and I've been somewhat lost ever since. I feel like the latter part of student teaching was more going through the motions, yet I somehow made it through and am graduating with my master's (and no job prospects) this coming Saturday.

I'm excited, but sad. The only reason I'm walking is for Dad. It would have made him so proud to see me graduate, and now he won't :( Don't get me wrong I am so glad that he is not suffering anymore, but I selfishly wish he were here for me. I listened to an old phone message last night where he was singing me happy birthday. Now I'm so glad I didn't delete it because it's the only way I get to hear his voice anymore.

I did gain 6lbs during the time we lost him and I am working those 6 off as we speak. I'm glad to get back to weight loss. I feel like that is one area I have great control over and I am ready to feel in control again. I'm down 4 of the 6 and hopefully by weigh-in maybe I can eek out another pound or two... if nothing else, I'll be back down to where I was by weigh-in next week, you can bet your bottom dollar!

But I also wanted to do something for Dad. I have been walking in every cancer charity even t I can in his honor.. I even Mastered the Met this year, climbing 1000 stair in the Metropolitan building in downtown St. Louis MO. I'll continue doing those events as long as I live, but I wanted to do more to support cancer research and awareness. So I decided to become a Thirty-One consultant where I could donate a portion of each sale to the American Cancer Society, my father's favorite charity. I chose Thirty-One because I love their products! I actually am getting organized around the house and these products are making it so dang easy! I also love that the company gives back to the community. Giving back is a big deal to me and I wanted to be associated with a company that gives!

So if you're looking to add some organization to your life (and house, car, or office) or you just want a cute customizable purse or bag.. you can come to my site and support a good cause while you're getting some great product. Also if you want to host a party and earn free goods or even start selling Thrity-one, I'd be happy to talk to you about it.

:) thanks for reading Jess
