I went to the doctor today to find out what's going on with my knee, and she says the knee is just fine, but my tendon is injured. She told me to limit my exercise for the next 7-10 days and to avoid doing any exercise that is weight-bearing. She did say I could use the stationary bike if it does not cause me discomfort, so we'll see how that goes. She gave me some pain samples of 825 mg naproxen (prescription Aleve) to take everyday with instructions to ice the tendon behind my knee twice a day for 10 minutes at a time. I'm supposed to update her on Tuesday so she can decide whether to refer me to an orthopedic specialist. I hope the rest, pain reliever, and ice do the trick. I am bummed to have to take a break from walking, but I'm trying to think more long-term. A week or two off in the grand scheme of things is nothing, especially if it keeps me from injuring myself and earning an even longer forced break. I just have to make sure to keep watching my calories and continue with my strength training.
