First shared recipe!

Thursday, May 24, 2012

I routinely use the recipe calculator for the sake of convenience: enter the total of what I cooked with for a dish so I can track it without "doing the math" for every ingredient. But today I submitted my first recipe to the shared database! It's a Caesar-style vegan dressing, and full of garlic, hence the name "Garlicky Caesar Dressing (vegan)."

There are a few other vegan Caesars on the site, but none use fresh garlic, which in my book, is essential to a proper Caesar.

We had it for lunch today, tossed with romaine and kale, with lots of sweet little cherry tomatoes on top. Dave is a dressing fiend and I have been known to get on his case about how much he uses, but this time it was a non-issue, as it is not a nutritional black hole. I would have taken a picture, but the salads were gone before I thought of it.

It is exciting to try new stuff! I am not a vegan but I rarely eat meat. I am a recovering "starchatarian/vegetarian" so I try to eat a little meat, but as a animal enthusiast, limit it to fish mostly.
Thanks for submitting!

i've been working on a dressing this week - it's been evolving from first the miso tahini lemon, then i added dijon, and more lemon, but it looks like i need to try adding nootch and garlic - thanks for sharing!

Ooh, this sounds great! I've been wanting to try a vegan dressing like this, but I didn't want to have to pay $30 to have a commercial dressing shipped to me. This one sounds simple and tasty! I will definitely be adding this to my list of recipes to try. Thanks so much! :)
