almost met my mini-goal and hurray for travel insurance

Thursday, May 24, 2012

I had set a goal for myself of getting back down to 157 by today. With vacation, traveling to visit relatives and for work my weight had crept back up a little bit. I'm fairly happy to report that this morning I weighed 157.5. Not exactly my goal but pretty darn close! I've set a new goal of 154 by July 4. That's about a pound every other week, and should not be too much of a stretch. The only challenge I foresee at this point is a big family weekend with my boyfriend's family for his father's memorial coming up.

Switching gears, just want to let you all know how happy I am that I bought travel insurance for our cruise last month. As you know we had to leave early - my boyfriend had to get off the ship in Mexico and fly home from there and I changed my plane ticket to fly home one day earlier than scheduled. We also had a non-refundable hotel reservation. I usually get travel insurance when we plan trips like this in case we have to flat out cancel. It usually costs about $100 or a bit more depending on the trip, I've bought it a couple of times before and never needed to use it. Well, I am SO glad that I got it this time - the plane change for my boyfriend was almost $800, mine was almost $300, and the hotel room was over $200, and we got a nice check back that covered all these charges, plus the three days of the cruise that my boyfriend missed. We're not exactly rolling in dough (the hotel room was a wild splurge for one night) so it was nice to get the money back for these unforeseen expenses.

Congrats on meeting your goal! I'm taking today to set some new goals, too.

I've never gotten travel insurance, but now it looks like even just one cancelled or interrupted trip would cover always getting it. That was smart of you!

Very nice! What's half a pound to quibble with, hmmm?

And I'm glad you were able to recover some of those expenses - that should help for a future vacation that isn't interrupted, or just regular things that you want to get.
