It is hard to believe the Biggest Loser -Spring 2012 Challenge is over. For the ITC we are to blog our reflection over the last 10 weeks.
This has been a rough challenge for me. I had a gain of 5 pounds. Not at all what I wanted!
Why did I gain? As I look back, things started going crazy about the same time as the start of the challenge. My daycare went from 1 full-time to being at capacity at 8 - with 4 being VERY rambunctious boys. My menopause symptoms were in full swing - couldn't sleep, HOT flashes all day and all night, foggy brain etc, etc. I had 18+ hours of classes to do for my daycare license. Plus wedding planning. I just couldn't focus on losing weight.
Oh, I did log in my food (though it was hard to log a bite here and a bite there), I did exercise and go to my PT sessions. But I just wasn't putting my full effort into it. I wasn't able to get to the gym as often because of my schedule changes. Plus I felt guilty going to the gym so much because my husband had said he was a "gym widower". I know I have his support and he is encouraging, but I just wasn't seeing it at that time.
I have since started taking Estro-Logic to help with my menopause - and it has helped immensely! I hardly have hot flashes anymore. I stopped taking melatonin and am sleeping through the night and feeling rested. After having a physical, I am taking a multi-vitamin and Vit D & a couple of other supplements. I am feeling like the fog has lifted and am able to function again.
Also, my schedule is changing once again. I will no longer have the 5 boys -- 2 are moving next week, and the 3 brothers mom is now on maternity leave starting today. Then one of the girls will be off for the summer in a couple of weeks. So I will only have 2 part-time girls. This will help give me more time to get my wedding sewing done and get to the gym during the day.
I am so glad I had this challenge (plus the 5% challenge) - I am so afraid that if I didn't have the accountability of SP teams that I could have gained a whole lot more. I am currently on the BLC19 challenge team and am hoping to start losing once again. I have 2 1/2 months until the wedding and I so want to lose 10-15 pounds before then.
