Those of you who are in my "Weekly Challenge(s)" team have been hearing all about my new garden for about a month. I am so happy with it!
I started from scratch this spring. I decided to go with a "Square Foot Garden" method. These are raised bed gardens that are designed to not be stepped in. I have the equivalent of 4 square foot gardens. Each of my boxes measures 4'x8'. The method divides each 4x4 section into square foot spaces. That gives 32 spaces for plants in each of my boxes. This garden doesn't require the amount of space a traditional "row garden" requires.
My goal is to can my own Salsa this fall. I am on the hunt for a good recipe. If anyone has one, please let me know.
In my garden I have:
4 Roma Tomato
12 peppers (red, green, yellow)
4 jalapeno peppers
4 yellow summer squash
8 green beans
carrots (2 squares)
beets (2 squares)
lettuce - red leaf
sweet potato (3 squares)
regular potato (1 square)
marigolds (2 squares) - not going to eat these...but they are extremely beneficial to the garden
I still have 2 squares to fill. I don't know what I am going to put in them yet.
In the picture, the red pots are my Herb garden.
