i have been inside my pool pumping water out, slicing the liner around the bottom for removal later,, still waiting for scrapguy to show up,,
I started using my ratchet to get the screws out of the decking all around the top of the pool,, only half of them came off, my right hand is throbbing from the actions,, it is the hand I just had surgery on for carpal tunnel,, I sprayed all of the screws with WD40 and still a no-go on them,,
I DID climb through the blown out wall of the pool to get inside,, it is very sad to think of all the years we had hundreds of thousands of hours of enjoyment from that pool,, 24 years,,,

It killed me to slice into that $300 liner that is only three years old.... my winter cover is torn also from the weight of the snow.. i just bought it last September,,
I finally got hot and tired, pumped all the water I could from the bottom of the deep end and stopped working on it...
now I am just depressed about this big change in our life,, the pool represents a time in our lives when I was going through a divorce, health challenges, and my DD and I were blessed to have this brand new form of entertainment that kept our minds off our life situation.. many friends and relatives spent hours here, lots of great relaxing memories.. all from a pool of water!!!

Intellectually and physically, I know I can no longer handle it's upkeep , but in my heart it was a Godsend. I may plant a garden if I can handle that,, we will see,, I do NOT do well with change,, had a rotary phone until fifteen years ago!!

I know I am very old fashioned in some of my thinking, but most of it is just plain old German stubbornness...

Hey, I have German stubborness too! Build a communal garden. Have those same friends and family who enjoyed the pool help you. Then you can all share the work and share the crops. It's time to make new memories.

I'll bet there are lots of people who don't even know the sound of dialing a rotary phone anymore. I collect antique phones and some have been updated to work on today's phone system. I had to get a new one so I could push 1 for this and 2 for that :( I still answer my old Kellogg crank phone and I love the sound of my phones ringing.

Most people have trouble with change. We Sparkers know this well. I'm sure you will think of a way to make your pool area into something that will celebrate this new phase in your life.

I am sorry that you are having to give up your pool. They are a lot of work but oh, so much fun! I have read several of your blogs on this subject and can't help knowing that you are saying "goodbye" to an old and dear friend. Hang in there!
