The Surgery Is Done - Now I Just Have To Let Things Heal

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

It has been a week since my surgery. All I can do now is put up with the pain and do absolutely nothing with my right hand. Iwas supposed to have the cast put on Monday, but when they unwrapped it, my hand was still too swollen for that. All they did that day was remove the staples and stitches and change the dressing. I go back on Friday and get it checked again. If all is well, the cast will be put on so I can start the countdown to getting rid of it so I can start therapy.
The doctor certainly was right when he told me it was going to be painful!!!!! I don't like to have to take pain drugs, but I am VERY GLAD I have them for this one!!!! I suppose I shouldn't be to surprised that it hurts, judging by how much cutting and reconstruction he had to do. It took 13 staples and 5 stitches just to close the 2 incissions!!!!
I have been back at work since Tuesday, although I am not able to do much. At least I can give advice and help out as I can.
Hopefully, I will get the cast Friday so I will be able to start doing a little more and help move forward on the healing.

Just remember to heal before you use it again or you may mess it up and then they will have to go back in and do it again and it may take longer to heal too. So make sure that you take it easy on it until the doctor tells you that you can use it again.
