I ran on my treadmill this morning, just didn't feel like dealing with outside. I did the 5K yellow brick road, this way I get some incline in. Of course the stupid zombies always seem to start chasing me when I'm on like a 4 incline. I had 6 zombie chases, 2 of them after the mission ended and I was in radio mode, whats with that?
I don't care how tired I am, when the zombie chase alert sounds, I up my speed and go! It is scary as hell to have the beep beep beep, then the moaning zombie sounding like its directly behind you, I freak out. So far I have not got "caught", but it really gets you moving!
So I've been contemplating the changes in my husbands diet, they are great changes. Over the last 6 months while working with our son in Miami, living in a hotel room all week, my son has managed to get dad to listen to him when it comes to food. Something I have been attempting for about 13 years with little success.
When I started Sugar Busters way back when I was getting off the Prednosone, and weighing in at a whopping 285, I learned a lot about nutrition. I tried to get the family to switch to brown rice & breads. Nobody budged. I did get them off Minute rice to Jasmine and Basmati. Cut out the Hungry Jack instant potatoes to one in a while, got some of them to eat more veggies. We started cooking better, using non-stick cooking spray, no frying in oil.
But since the boy started his crusade of healthy eating about 4 years ago, I was mostly alone. Now I have the heavy weight health nut at my side and boy, shopping has changed! No more Hamburger helper (which I hate anyway), frozen mac & cheese? Too much fat & sodium. Wheat bread YES!!
Silk Soy milk & Almond milk YES! Ice cream? Nope to much fat.
Snacks? Popcorn please!
It is so weird to have my husband shoot down food because of fat and calories!
Its a humongous help for me not to have those temptations in the house.
We still split a mini bag of peanut M&M's sometimes when we are out but all in all our eating is really good. I am so proud of my son and so glad he's getting dad on board, now if we can get him to quit smoking, wow that would be aw-some!
