OK. I admit it. I have this "thing" for TAHINI.
You know what tahini is?
Sesame tahini. A creamy sauce - or some call it "paste" - made from ground-up sesame seeds. It can be used in place of peanut butter, for example. Or to help make an incredible salad dressing.
You can get tahini either RAW or TOASTED. I like mine raw.....
But-- tahini is both ENERGY-RICH AND pretty expensive (in the USA, anyway)... It's not something I eat every day or every week. More like every now and then.
I've loved tahini ever since I discovered it in the health food store back in the 1970s. Yes, I'm that old!
Thank goodness, sesame tahini is GOOD for you. But it's also packed with calories!
NOTE TO YOU LADIES: It's also a really good vegetarian/vegan source of CALCIUM, for those bones, teeth, etc.
I figure if I'm gonna have a nutritional splurge every now and then, better I do it in the MORNING, when I have the whole day and evening to process/make use of the energy. So this morning I had a WHOLE WHEAT "sandwich thin" (i.e., piece of bread) with my tahini drizzled on it.
So, doing this the right way, today's delicious taste of tahini is included in my daily food plan. It was worth it! In my book, the best splurges "hit the spot" - which this one did. Yummy!
