This will be brief as I am nearly on empty and hardly any sleep at 9:00 right now as I type this and need to get to bed almost immediately. Since we were detoured across Wyoming I will Write more tomorrow about my trip we had to have what is known in the Railroad industry as a Piolet. I have told the guys in the office here at the school district when they want to send me out on unfamiliar equipment or weird routes that I need a "Piolet" of a guide to show it to me so I know how its done. Since our Amtrak crew was not qualified across Wyoming (and this used to happen to me on my desk all the time when we would do re-outes for Amtrak) we had to have piolets. The piolets from the UP were awesome as they got us in about 2 hours early into Denver. But it was an EARLY EARLY start. We were literally flying across Wyoming with Very little in slow orders or following slow trains... My thanks to the UP piolets we had as we made Cheyenne by about 12:30 I think it was. We had 3 sets of piolets from Salt Lake to Green River, Green River to Cheyenne and Cheyenne to Denver and they were in fact great. Thanks guys!
