hurtful words written about me in a blog

Monday, May 21, 2012

In vet school some people keep blogs about their journey and time here. I haven't really had people say much about my weight in my life and now that I have lost 22 pounds somebody has. I mean wow what a blow to my confidence. I mean this is the third week of classes and I didn't realize we had established seats already although last week everyone seemed to be sitting in the same general seating arrangement. But today Ryan was in my seat so no big deal I just moved back one row so I could have a good view of the tv. But apparently Brian has an emotional attachment to his seat already and came in and defensively but in a joking manner claimed I was in his seat and he said "you can move down one seat." Not really asking or anything just was demanding me to move down and I said no way you need to learn how to talk to people but once again in a defensive and joking manner. I mean I really thought he would just sit down next to me but he sat 2 seats down on the end I guess so christine could still have the seat in between us. anyways so he writes in his blog every day and this was a section he wrote:

For the most part things have been hunky doory BUT......SUPPA TIME stole my seat today in micro-anatomy lecture. I really don't want to sound like Sheldon from "Big Bang Theory"but seriously.....THAT'S MY SEAT! There is a row of 4 seats and all of the other seats were empty. Therefore, I asked and said could you slide over one..........SUPPA TIME then responded that someone needed to learn me how to talk. I'm not sure if this statement came from the over abundance of left overs she typically consumes or SUPPA TIME just has a major issue with being cordial. I'm not bitter at all but I can assure you that in the future I will be making an immediate stop by the micro-lecture hall to have my bag placed in "MY SEAT" to prevent any further issues.

Anyways I've apparently been named suppa time... hmm don't know why. I ate peanuts in one of my classes and that was his reasoning apparently. But really he should know that when he is going to make his blog so public he should try to watch what he says about people especially if it's referring to a girl like that and even if he's trying to joke... we all have self-conscious issues. He is 29, married, and with a kid so he should really be more mature than that.

I decided to go personally apologize for taking his seat since it clearly bothered him that much. But really it took a lot of apologizing on my part for him to apologize at all for it and it didn't really feel sincere like knowing he really hurt my feelings because he was just kind of smiling and apologizing at the same time. Oh well boys are dumb, throw rocks at them!

Anyways I have been maintaining the same .8 pounds of 137.6 to 138.4 over the last week or so and it's my goal to be at 137 by this weekend sometime. We had an ice cream social today and I will admit I overindulged. We have mini fridges in our dorms with the freezer on the inside but it's not really good enough to keep things frozen so I don't have any ice cream unless I buy a bar at the campus store. Ice cream is also super expensive here since they have to ship things in so I don't like to buy individual bars very much. Anyways pudding has been my substitute and it does an okay job but nothing beats ice cream! So yea I did overindulge but no regrets! The butterscotch was fantastic :)

This guy sounds like a total IDIOT! First of all is it really "HIS" seat? No it's not. I take a German class every tue. and thurs. We basically all sit in the same seats but sometimes one of the chairs is missing so someone will sit in the next seat so then everyone just kinda sits one seat over or something. NOT A BIG DEAL. Now do I get slightly annoyed when someone who rarely shows up for class sits in my seat or the seat next to me when I know I'm going to have to do partner work and I like the person who usually sits next to me. Yea a little annoying but seriously still not a big deal. Plus our teacher realizes we always work with the same people and forces us to switch seats when we do partner work half the time SO it's a chair it keeps me from sitting on the floor for 2.5 hours and at the end of the day it's fine. This guy is married with children? Can you imagine what his kids are going to act like when they hit middle/highschool?? It's sad. You should be sad that he is so emotionally attached to this chair and ignore his petty stupid blog. It was really mature of you to apologize but the fact that he couldn't genuinely apologize for being silly just shows how childish he is.

Did you explain to him that someone had taken your seat? Sounds like he has a crush on someone and wanted to be near them??

I hope you don't let a asswipe like that get you down. You have done an amazing job on this journey... how is SUPPA TIME supposed to be a reference to your weight? An idiot. I felt like you were telling us a story about 5th grade. Maybe you should disclose his full name so we don't take our furbabies to him after he gets out of vet school. What a total ass. Definitely not worth your time.

There was absolutely nothing you needed to apologize for either. I wasn't aware they did assign seating in GROWN UP PEOPLE SCHOOLS!

You are doing fabulously; a hearty congratulations to you!!! As for the mean blog, I posted somewhere that I am not so bothered by snide remarks about my weight from acquaintances; it is the ones from loved ones that have always cut me to the quick. But I have been working hard on my self-concept so I can continue living with those people with my head held high. I totally do not understand this thing about people reserving seats for themselves. I always make it a point to take a new seat and got major heat from my husband and my dinner guests at a place I stayed at once. I always took new seats in classrooms, etc. and although I might be the only person who does it, tough. That coworker has some major issues to feel he has to ridicule you.

29? What a loser... seriously. And yes, someone does need to "learn him how to talk."

I had to look at your pictures and now I can't figure out why anyone would ever make a comment about your weight - I am majorly confused. Cearly he was having a lot of trouble finding anything bad to say about you - you're beautiful, smart, well spoken, kind... by the way, you have GREAT legs/thighs - that's my trouble area and I'd about kill for yours!

Wow, what a jerk! That is awful! Over a seat? Give me a break! Someone needs to grow up! It's college, for crying out loud! There are rarely assigned seats. And I can't believe what he called you in his blog! Don't let him get to you. He's not worth your time to fret about. Keep your chin up!

Are you KIDDING ME?? 137 and a comment like that? Boy, Varswife sure nailed it -- "toddler time!" Is he 29 or 9? He obviously latched onto something that he knew would bother you. What woman likes being mocked for her weight ever? So he knew exactly the most hurtful thing. Over a SEAT IN A CLASSROOM?!!! I'm appalled. I teach university students, so I can say (thank goodness) that this guy is a real exception to what I see going on in my classrooms. What a maroon. Do not let him have the slightest space in your head.

I remember my freshman orientation. The speaker said, "look at the person to your left, now look at the person to your right, one of them will not be here for graduation. Left or right you choose, but with that trifling attitude i don't think TODDLER TIME will graduate. Make sure you do.

I'm really sorry you had this experience. You should have let him know at that moment with the attention of the person who took your seat exactly what happened and why. I feel you should not have apologized, but simply put him in his place for writing things about you that are harmful to your feelings and basically cyber bullying!
On another note, I have come to love the jello dark chocolate whipped sensations. Just put it in the freezer you have because you don't want it super hard anyway, and an hour later, yum! btw I am a total ice cream fantatic too ;)

What a d!ck. I hate it when people act like they are in first grade.

Sounds like his life is super awesome if he feels like that was worthy of his blog. Lame.
