Adjusting and Mending

Monday, May 21, 2012

I am working on my nutrition tracking and see areas where I can improve things. It feels like too many carbs they want me eating and I am working on more actual veggies and a bit more lean protein intake and salad stuff as I need the nutrients the green stuff gives me and such things. I don't get enough in me without maybe doing mostly a vegetarian lean protein supper for the nutrients and its making a difference in my brain activity/clear thinking, with the increase in those nutrients. So I want to adjust that so its a higher intake, because its filling up something that was too low for too long.

Also, I am finally getting to a pile of mending I needed to get done. One of its my favorite pair of workout shorts, they are getting ragged and they don't make them like that anymore! But they are so comfortable, texture wise too and I Find texture in clothing and linens is very important for me to be comfy. I cannot stand some of the stuff they have been producing for sports wear in the last 15 yrs or so I would say. I am probably going to make my own shorts for working out soon, by ripping the seams on these and making a pattern from them, as soon as I get the sewing table cleared off from craft and outdoors tiny kits stuff I have all over it right now. I have looked high and low for the same style but even if I find it , its difficult to justify spending as much as stores want these days.
"What you want THAT much for plain nylon running shorts? " Criminy.
Mostly you can't even find this type of nylon anymore. I hate the mesh stuff. I'm not ready for the clinging spandex, that would just be obscene to wear it just yet again..... but I need another pair for working out outside for sure now that summer is here, with pockets for my keys. Yep, going to be frugal and sew some for myself out of some light cotton I guess. At least its blue? Anybody snickers and I will squirt em as I walk by , with my water bottle! LOL. ( Usually folks just wave or say hi here, I really doubt they would laugh at homemade shorts). Ok, need to finish the hems on these shorts I am fixing for now, and get some cardio dance in , as I have the latino music station on and its getting me in the mood to start some dancing.... so much for being a fashion plate these days, ha!

Spark People nutrition tracker is the BOMB!!! I love to sew and have since I was about 8. I love good fabric and also cringe at the prices of clothing today. Being latina I LOVE la musica latina too! hey we have a lot in common. emoticon

Home made shorts, good for you. I can't sew a button on without it looking a little off let alone cut and sew up something to wear. Truthfully I would not be caught in a pair of shorts at this stage in my life. I work out in capri cut pants or sweat pants. Good for you.

And I thought I was the only Frugal ReSewer !!!!!
I took my old scrubs and took one apart to make my own. No, I'm not a nurse but I love them for gardening and canning. The pockets are perfect.
They cost 8.00 at the dollar store and I can make them for a few bucks.
Good for you and I wish you well on your new eating plan.

    NOW, Let's Dance !!!!!

Home made shorts are the best. They fit, they're comfy, and they have all the amenities that you want/need. Do you really think that people would notice that they are home made? Do you think they really care? If anything, they're probably jealous.

Ha Ha!! Who wants to be a fashion plate anyway? Comfort is MUCH more important!!
How neat that you can sew! I used to when I was a kid, but it went by the wayside, like my knitting............ I do kind of miss knitting!

You will have to take a picture of your shorts when you are done with them! emoticon
