Tried another new food this weekend - TSC All American Breakfast Wrap

Monday, May 21, 2012

We've been enjoying going to Tropical Smoothie Cafe lately, so Saturday we decided to try their breakfast. We checked the nutrition info on-line first, and discovered that the All-American Wrap (Junior Size) had 376 calories. Hubby and I both ordered it, and both had the same reactions:

Minuses:
a. It was REALLY small for the number of calories in it (and 210 of those calories came from the not-whole-grain tortilla). b. It was sort of bland. It contained Egg, American Cheese, and Ham, and bacon, but it really needed salsa or something to perk it up. The white flour tortilla didn't add any flavor, either
c. The ratio of tortilla to filling was too high. There was too much extra tortilla wrapped around the filling.

"The Plus:
c. It DID keep me satisfied for over 3 hours. (But I really like to have more volume when I'm eating that many calories.)

The Verdict - I won't order this again, AND I plan to e-mail TSC to ask them to include a whole-wheat tortilla option on their menu (preferrably one that comes in at about 100 calories - there are delicious lower-calories whole-wheat tortillas out there which taste really good - Cosi is a case in point).

That's all for now - Has anyone else tried anything new lately?

Thanks for the review! The only thing new for me lately has been Starbucks' egg-white, spinach, and feta wrap. I don't recall the nutrition info (it's online), but I do remember it was way lower in calories than their breakfast sandwich.
