No weigh in today/ they "got me"...

Sunday, May 20, 2012

I have used Sundays for my weigh in day since starting SP two years ago, because weekends were always difficult for me. I decided this would "teach" me to embrace this journey 7 days a week and it has worked for me.
Today I will not weigh in.....yesterday DH and I were to another couple for a late lunch at a Mexican restaurant (had my meal planned out and knew if I stayed away from the guacamole I would be on track). Well, we met up with the couple and I thought we were going to our table.....instead we went into an alcove where everyone shouted "Surprise"! In that room were family and friends gathered to celebrate my up coming 65th birthday...and I had no idea this was going to happen. I was needless to say, very surprised. While greeting all my guests there were a few tears shed along the way....happy ones and sad ones. There were two people missing. My friend Mary who is still in ICU in God's hands and my son who couldn't get a flight out of Portland in time for the party....(he is still coming June 6-10 WooHoo)
It was a wonderful afternoon. I did manage to stay on track calorie wise, but the morning I'm feeling "puffy". I'm sure do to high sodium and maybe the two drinks I had (forgot to drink water, water, water...sigh!) Oh, I almost forgot....there was a chocolate cupcake cake too, which I indulged in.
I know there were pictures taken and when they come to my computer I will post them.
Just a foot note: 3 years ago I had a surprise 65th birthday party for my BFF.
She really enjoyed the "pay back", especially when they brought out the cake and "plopped" a sombrero on my head and sang Happy Birthday -(I had that done to her too!)
Hugs to all who take the time to read this and I hope ALL of you have a wonderful Sunday.

Sorry I missed the birthday. 65 is a good number and a little bit of cheating is allowed. Still saying prayers for your friend Mary.

Happy Birthday. It is good to know that you are as loved off SP as you are by your SP friends. I know it was a wonderful surprise for you. After that wonderful surprise you still have your son coming home to look forward to. Oh, btw, birthday cupcakes have no calories(ok so I made that up, one can dream)

    Happy Birthday!!!

I do know the puffy feeling after good Mexican food... I'm slowly coming to the belief that occasionally real life calls for minor indulgence and we look at the long run...

Enjoy the week.. and you are so blessed to have so many people who love you!

Well Happy Birthday!! I hope you have a wonderful day and I think that it was wise of you to stay off of the scale this week. (Who needs a little sodium weight gain for a present?) Lol!
