Reflections and Mid May Weigh in

Sunday, May 20, 2012

It's been 4 weeks since BLC #14 started, and there has been sweat and tears and a ton of grumbling but no blood yet. I started this challenge a month or so after I had returned to spark people, and I have to say without being on this challenge, I probably would have gone off the grid. Had a few weeks there where I struggled with 12 hr work days (totally ate the wrong things on those days), and school work to booth. Also, had to do a midnight drive to Houston cause my Aunt fell and broke her hip, and I did lose focus for a while, but the ladies of BLC #14 and all my wonderful spark friends gave me the energy to persevere emoticon. Am still on this journey, I started strong and I intend to finish strong come hell or high water.
I had just concluded my first week of Turbo fire when I started the BLC, and now am in week six, with more energy. I remember huffing and puffing and struggling through the routines, but now I have the first two major routines down, and I've started learning a new one that is bringing more unknown muscles to light.
Through these first four weeks, I've increased my serving of fruits and vegetables from 3 to 5 a day, and I often find my self drinking upwards of 10 glasses of water a day. Initially I had set a weight release goal of 20 pounds, and halfway through I have released 6.2 pounds, which is 3.8 lbs less than where I'd like to be right now, the best thing will be to reduce my goal, but am going to leave it at 20 and aim for that, if I fall short "so what" the point is I tried to get there, and on my way there I will release a significant amount of weight.
Last week I weighed in at 279.2 (maintained my previous weight and no longer seeing the 280's), which was a relief to me because I was caught in stressville last week and most of this week, and I can tell you I did not eat properly for the 3 days that I stayed in Houston (stopped in all sorts of crazy places to get something to eat on the journey there), but I'm glad to report that I am still SODA free. I was surprised that I didn't drink any, usually with stress comes my carbonated sugar cravings, but I felt nothing in that direction. emoticon. Regardless of the issues I faced last weekend I made the best out of this week, and was able to kick 2lbs to the curb, now I weigh 277.2.

I'm off from work for a few weeks, so am going to take that time to evaluate my plan, get back on outdoor cycling (I've been looking at bikes), distress and get my travelling details in order.

I hear this weeks challenge is going to be focused on yoga, can't wait to see what it is.

I'll keep you all posted.

You are doing such a great job! Congrats on staying soda-free and remaining focused even with other things going on around you. It's easy to have bad days and eat the wrong thing (especially with 12-hour workdays) but you just keep on working and learn lessons along the way.
