Hafto get back to my project-with-a-deadline, but 1st want to share a few things with you as I look forward to my 1st Marathon Walk (26 miles/40km). This morning I am wondering about the things that will go through my mind as I walk. Of course, I will converse with my walk-mate. The plan is to cover the 1st 20km with one girlfriend, then the 2nd 20km with another. I have no doubt that I will make the 40km - that's what training is all about - getting ready for covering the long-road. I am ready-to-go.
I have been planning what I will carry, which is a LOT - all of my liquids, snacks, 2 small meals, extra shoes and socks, sunscreen, long light pants, long-sleeved shirt, and a few other essentials. I have not weighed everything but it will perhaps weight 20lbs (a guess). As I consume the liquids and food, the pack will lighten up. Roughly halfway, I plan to dispose of the old shoes and socks leaving them on the side of the road for someone in need to pick up.
Back to thoughts on the road. Here a few that I know will come to my mind -
Prayers - I am in the habit of praying for a good number of folks.
The things I see - the beautiful albeit dry landscape, people, animals, glimpses of the river.
Things I need to do at home and the wonderful meal, shower, and rest I will gift myself.
Plans - lots of things coming up for us this summer and I can hardly wait!
All of the smiling faces and cheers of those who are donating to our needy cause.
The delight of the people of our little church when they discover what God has done through us to bring in these donations to cover the costs to repair the damage done by thieves in Feb.
Perhaps a few songs that motivate me.
for YOUR encouragement as I make THIS dream reality! I would not be doing this if SparkPeople had not come into my life!
