Saturday travels-Cooper River Park, and Manhattan

Saturday, May 19, 2012

We started the day traveling to Cooper River Park to participate in the Congenital Heart walk. We honor our friend's daughter who was born with a heart problem that was corrected by surgery two days after she was born. She had had two or three surgeries since then but the prognosis is good. she is fourteen and gorgeous, Pictures tomorrow I promise.

Then we drove to the train station to go to NYC to see my mom. The trip up contained loads of high schoolers and college students going to the Bambozzle festiva, 85 bands including Foo Fighters, Blink 182 and Jon Bon Jovi! They were fine, loud and silly but fun. . The screaming toddler whose parents ignored was harder to take.

Mom is still pretty weak and in a lot of pain. She is obsessed with resting but to me she seems weaker each time we see her. Dh and I did a lot of things for her around the house but we really would like her to live closer. It is hard and expenseive traveling to the city . Between gas, tolls, train tickets, and parking, it adds up quickly.

We made it home safely so I will say good night and hope that your day was good!! emoticon

I know how hard it is to travel. My Mom is in NY (about 1 1/2 hours north of the city). I try to go up 2-3 times a month to see and help her and it is expensive with tolls and gas. Hope you had a nice visit with her!

Terri, I hope you are taking it easy too for a bit. I am glad you were able to visit MOM. I know just how it is to have distance between you and your loved ones. We only communicated by written letter No phones in England for my family at that time. Take care. HUGS Pat . emoticon emoticon emoticon

I can imagine what travel to NYC is like and that it is expensive. Isn't it one of the most expensive cities to live, in the whole world?
Yes, those kids that will not be quiet and the parents just letting them act up is soooooo maddening!!!
Glad you got home safe and sound and had a good trip. Our day was good-got in a nice walk-admiring nature at it's finest! Even saw an alligator-always the highlight of any walk in my opinion! Have a restful Sunday! emoticon
