Day 4-Staying Present in our Lives!
Friday, May 18, 2012
Ahhh I already missed a day blogging so I am starting my streak over, but I have picked up a great idea from a fellow sparker and picked up some post its! I was on my way home yesterday and I received some bad news. A man named Thurman was killed yesterday by a semi truck on his way home from work. He was well known and liked around town, a very hard worker, and a pleasant gentlemen to talk too. This news got me thinking that we never know when our time on this earth is through. No matter how many times I have thought to not take things for granted somehow I find that I always do. Maybe this falls into the denial stage where we are in denial that anything bad will happen to us before we are older. Staying present in life is a way that I feel I can overcome denial. If I stay present I will enjoy my life at that very second. I need to not worry about yesterday it has happened and I can only move forward, and I can't worry about the future because what will be will be. However, I do have control over the present and what I choose to do with each day is my choice. Today I took a walk with my husband. We have not had the easiest marriage, and at one point we even started going through the process of divorce. The thing with marriage is you need to stay present as well, and neither of us understood that until recently. I would never have guessed last year that we would be exercising together and communicating, but good things happen, bridges are rebuilt, and inner selves are recognized when we try to stay present in our lives. I know that I am bouncing around to different subjects but one thing is the same STAYING PRESENT! Oh what an important concept that we all must practice doing! Staying present in our lives allows us to control how we live our lives, and keeps denial, worry, self loathing at bay.
On to lighter news I am going to enjoy the rest of my day with a little sun bathing LOL, and then its off to the track for a car show AKA the school track where my daughter will be showing their cardboard derby cars off for all to see! Then even more excitement when I finally get my shaggy hair cut and eyebrows waxed woot woot! This weekend should be fun filled we are planting my daughter's flower garden in her old turtle sandbox, planting peppers, checking on our vegetable garden, and going to the farmers market!
Have a GREAT AND PRESENT day!
