Rest Day

Friday, May 18, 2012

Decided today I should rest. I have a 12k (7.50 mile race) tomorrow morning AND I am leading Boot Camp prior to it. Will be leaving that early though so really not doing much except the race. I ran well yesterday- 5.5 miles in 43:38 so pretty quick. I was trying to keep as many miles as I could under 8 pace. I only had one= 8:05- first mile that was over. Not bad! I had to stop twice- for about 15 seconds. I always feel like something is in my eye. I also ran with NO water so that was good. I want to not have to rely on hydrating during a race if possible. I later ended up riding my bike to my SIL's house as my husband mentioned our niece offered to go bike riding with them near her house. So I cycled over there after work, and he met me with the kids after picking them up from school. So I rode solo and fast there- 2.75 miles. Then I cycled with the kids and niece another 2.75 miles. This was a bit slower and had stop and go mixed as we had to keep our eyes on the kids as they rode on main roads. Then - they wanted to stay for dinner there so I went home. My goal was - get my first double digit ride in since buying this Specialized Road Bike. I was at 5.5 as I pedaled home... I took the longest way possible back and noticed I was only at about 8 miles. There is this adorable condo complex near my house so I rode through there twice, then back tracked back towards my SIL house to get me back home a longer way and to 10.09 miles. I rode that in 46 minutes. Now again- some of it was stop and go so overall decent speed and time. I want to practice again for a longer ride- say 12 miles and see if I can do that quicker. Felt good. Today again- resting but may go out and bike ride for something since its so beautiful today. We have a soccer AND softball game tonight for both kids. I am the soccer coach so I am with the son- and hubs on crutches- attending daughter' s first softball game of the season. GO TEAM!
