Weigh In Day 05/17/12

Yes...I am just this side of deliriously happy! I am down another 2.8 lbs this week for a total of 28 lbs since January 2012.

These "Greatest Loser" workouts are kickin' my butt, but apparently they are making a difference. I was sick on Monday, so I missed the workout and the team weigh-in. I made it yesterday and our trainer...another baby...maybe 25 years old...tells us she's disappointed because our team is in 3rd place. I tried really hard not to give her my "who-gives-a-flying-Fig-Newton
" face...because I really don't care. I'm in this for my own health and well-being...and if we happen to win a free workout session or a free massage or whatever cheesy prize they're offering...well, that's good, too...I suppose.

Part of the problem is that our team is scored based on a couple of different things...(1) team participation as determined by the sign in sheet at every workout...(2) overall team weight loss...(3) fitness minutes accumulated by every member on the team, including, but not limited to, our group workouts.

Last night, out of 50 names on the list, there were about 30 bodies in the gym. Weigh-ins are kind of a problem, too. The team that works out at 7:00 in the morning are working out and weighing in before they eat. By the time we get in there, we've had breakfast, lunch, at least one snack, and up to a gallon of water. Where's the fairness there?

I enjoy my team because we have fun and we really support one another. I hope those sadistic trainers don't ruin it for us by focusing on the competition rather than our health and weight loss goals!

Did I mention that my knees are killing me?

Yep...they most certainly are. I try to modify the exercises as best I can and still get a good workout. (You should see the trainer's face when she tells us to do jumping jacks and I do my little "half-jack" version...I know she wants to say something...but she's probably afraid I'll turn her over my knee!)

I have a workout tonight that's not a part of the competition (focusing on cardio) and another on Friday that is a part of the competition (God only knows what that will entail).

I'll let you guys know if I survive them...

Or if I have to strangle a trainer...

Smooches!

Congratulations on that almost 3 lb loss! THAT IS AWESOME!!! WOOO!! I hope you hear me cheering from North Carolina!!!

It sounds like this is giving you exactly the motivation you need!!!

I am one of those people who is hiiiiighly competitive, so I would be like that chick in your office (sad about losing) emoticon and I also (because again, I am HIGHLY competitive, have I mentioned this??) would be FLIPPING out that we would have all that extra weight from food and water in us.

But, it sounds like you are one of those Cool, Calm, and Collected type people who knows exactly what she's getting out of this - Weight Loss, and Health for her lifetime. GO YOU :)

That loss is just emoticon I can't tell you how happy I am for you! As for the jumping jacks, you do what's right for YOU, and to heck with anyone who wants you to injure yourself for a short-term goal of being in #1. emoticon If you strangle her or turn her over your knee, be sure to share pics! emoticon

Hoorah for your new weight loss!

So far as your trainer's attitude toward you...she can pound sand because it isn't about her! You are doing this for yourself and your health and that is all you need to care about.

If your knees are bothering you make sure you don't play-through-the-pain just to please her! I've seen the after effects of ignoring your body's signals to take it easy on your knees. I have two friends with bum knees. One of them was a former jogger that ignored the signals his body was sending him. He went through a knee replacement surgery in December of last year. You don't want that kind of pain believe me!
