Thought and Prayer for Thursday, May 17, 2012

There were times when we were little that we traced over pictures with tracing paper so we could copy the image onto something of our own. There were other times we copied how someone dressed or a hair cut or even someone’s paper in school. Copying is a form of wanting to be like someone else and not wanting to be the unique individual God wants us to be. Copying the ways of the world keeps us away from God’s will. The success of the world is not the same success God wants us to have. We don’t need to get drawn into the things of the world.
Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (NLT)
Dear Lord, please help us not to copy the ways of the world but to focus on the unique person You want us to be. Help us to change the way we think so our thoughts are pleasing to You. Help us to seek Your will and do what is pleasing and perfect in Your eyes. Help us today Lord to look for ways to be successful according to Your plan and not or own…or anyone else’s. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
