Start Small Think Big

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

It seems when I try to think about this diet thing as a whole I get overwelmed and just give up so I am going to try a new approach. I am going to give myself small goals. The first are to drink my water and not eat out so much for lunch at work. Gonna focus on those first 10 pounds. Doing ok so far. If I could just get rid of the sugar cravings....any suggestions are welcome.

Small goals are best... and think of one small goal of doing one thing for yourself that shows your self-love. Knowing you love and forgive yourself will take you large steps forward.

If you get an answer to this craving problem, please pass it on. So far I have found that eating protein for breakfast helps as long as I have no sweets in the house.

I think everyone's different when it comes to sugar. Some people can successfully limit themselves to just a bite or so a day, and that's enough to get rid of their sweet tooth and keep them on track. Others cannot have any - if they have any little bit, it kicks their cravings into overdrive and they end up bingeing on the stuff. I've been both ways at times.

If you can do a tiny bit, pick something sweet that you like that's REALLY small - like less than 100 calories. One small cookie, a sucker, a few chocolate chips counted out or weighed. However, if you simply can't get started or it all snowballs out of control, I'd recommend others things. I think hot tea really works well for me, also just drinking water when I have a craving, and sometimes eating fruit instead. Chewing gum can also be a blessing, because you get the flavor, your mouth is busy doing something, and it keeps you from eating!!!
