Husband DID come home for a couple weeks in November: no relations... not pregnant (haha)... he did whine to any family member that asked if we're going to have more kids that I wasn't interested. Awesome. Oh well...
Found out in January that I had a badly bulging disc and one that had already ruptured... Hello Back Surgery!! Dr. Shugart from FWO is AMAZING! No fusing or metal implants or anything... he just shaved off the parts of the discs that were pressing on my spinal cord and causing my legs so many problems. The first week was terrible! Still awestruck when I think about how God created our bodies so special and detailed so that we heal quickly from crazy things sometimes...
Within a few weeks post-surgery, I could stand on one leg without fear of crumbling, bend to tie my shoes without wiggling around to find a tolerable position or holding my breath, and stand up straight and balanced without excessive pain or leaning/tilting to compensate for shooting leg pain. Incredible!
Now, 3 months post-op, I've been participating in some aqua-cardio at the Y, playing outside and/or on the floor with my little people, kneeling without leaning in church, AND discovered that I've lost 16 pounds since February 2011 when we moved from Washington to Indiana! Ok, so 16 pounds in 15 months isn't terribly impressive, BUT it's a start, AND I'm working up to being able to do more!
I'm far from ready for a mini-marathon, or even a 5K quite yet, but I'm enjoying time in the water (I can run in there, and not hurt!). Another milestone: I took my 4 year old to the zoo today for the first time since pre-surgery. I kept up with him the whole time! There was no pausing before/after big hills to let momma "rest" (aka: sitting for a sec to ease the pressure and pain in my back and legs) this time. No alternative route taking due to momma wanting to avoid steep areas. It's amazing!
Other notable things since my last post:
1. Two of my sisters are pregnant, and the other one just delivered a sweet little baby boy a couple weeks ago.
2. I turned 30.
3. I am currently taking the last 2 courses needed in order to complete a Master's in Human Services (specializing in Marriage and Family), and should be done the second week in July!
4. Flying out to Washington toward the end of July with my two young men to bring husband back home! His deployment's almost up, and we're going to take a 2 week drive across the country to celebrate! :oD We'll stop in Louisiana to spend a few days with his oldest in the new location his mother has decided to relocate... aren't current spouse's ex-spouses fun? ugh.
I'm still here :oD Is just taking me a little bit to get back into the swing of things...
